Obituary of Marvin P. Smith

"Warren-Marvin Philip Smith, 84, of Winthrop Terrace, passed away May 9, 2008 at Wingate at Wilbraham. Born May 16, 1923 in Holyoke, MA, he was the son of the late Robert and Phyllis (Haas) Smith. Marvin served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army and was part of D-Day and stationed in Germany at the time of surrender. He worked for 20 years as a locksmith at the University of Massachusetts and has lived in Warren since 1984, previously of South Hadley. Besides fishing, Marvin was a great banjo player and played in two square dancing bands for over 20 years. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 61 years, Cecelia (Ross), along with a sister Luella Bousquet of Diamond Springs, CA, nieces Ardith Wolynec of Rutland, VT, Carol Schultz of Placerville, CA, other nieces, nephews and in-laws. All services will be privately held and Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Donations may be made to Shriners Hospital, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104. "
