Obituary of E. Robert Graveline

"E. Robert Graveline, a longtime resident of Palmer and West Yarmouth and well-known insurance executive, died on May 7 of complications from Alzheimer's Disease. Robert attended local schools and graduated from Assumption College in Worcester in 1946. He served his country in the National Guard during World War II. He was owner of the Crimmins-Graveline Insurance Agency in Palmer, and his civic activities included serving on the Palmer Planning Board, Safety Committee, Rotary Club, and Chamber of Commerce. He was a trustee of Assumption College for 9 years, a member of the President's Council, and a loyal alumnus. He championed Franco-American culture throughout his life and was a long-time member of the Institute Français at Assumption College. A founder of the Urbain B. Graveline Genealogical Society and its publication The Descendants, Robert organized numerous family conventions. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, L'Union St. Jean Baptiste, and a lifelong parishioner at St. Anne Church in Three Rivers. An accomplished athlete in his youth, in his later years he enjoyed sailing, golfing, and playing tennis. He skied the Alps, sailed in the Bahamas and golfed on many Florida golf courses. Robert was the son of Charles Graveline and Wilda Dupont. He leaves his wife of 59 years, Monica Tessier Graveline, and six children: Thomas Gravelin of South Hadley, Paul Graveline of Palmer, Marc Graveline of Holland, Dr. Michelle Graveline and her husband Kent Stout of Westborough, Andrea Graveline and her husband Peter Hosmer of Hopkinton, and Rebecca Bagley of Framingham. He also leaves nine grandchildren, and a sister, Elaine Garbin and her three children. Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 10 at 9:00 am from the Beers and Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St, (Rte. 20) followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Anne Church, 2230 Main Street, Three Rivers. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
