Obituary of Joseph E. Wholley

"S.Hadley- Joseph E. Wholley, 75, of Silver St. passed away May 4, 2008 at Holyoke Medical Center. Born October 28, 1932 in Melrose, MA, he was the son of the late Francis D. and Sophie (Graf) Wholley. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict, in the U.S. Air Force. Joseph has lived in S.Hadley since 1972. Joseph was currently employed at the S.Hadley Town Hall in the payroll department and previously worked, for nine years, at the S.Hadley Public Library. He was a systems analyst at Mass Mutual for 20 years. He was a Trustee of the Gaylord Library in S.Hadley, a communicant and member of the choir at St. Theresa's Church and a longtime member of the Hampshire Choral Society. Joseph loved listening to and singing music, he was an avid walker and enjoyed feeding the birds. He will be missed by his wife of 52 years, Glorianna (Hill) along with his children Joseph, Jr. of Chicopee, Kathleen Johnson and her husband Alan, of Cambridge, Janice Desloge and her husband Thomas, of Ashford, CT, Francis and his wife Rosemary of Busan, South Korea , and Mary Wholley of Hadley. He also leaves three grandchildren, Timothy James Wholley, Kirsten Sharon Johnson and Grace Sharon Wholley along with siblings Gloria DiCesare of Malden, Jeanne Temple of Tampa, FL, Mary Wallack of Malden, and William Wholley of Saugus. Visitation will be Sunday May 11th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story S.Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St. (Rte 116). Funeral services will begin on Monday May 12th, at 8:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a mass at St. Theresa's Church at 9:00 a.m. with military honors at 11:00 a.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
