Obituary of Amelia O'Boyle

"South Hadley – Amelia (O'Hagan) O'Boyle, 74, passed away on May 2, 2008 at Holyoke Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born August 31, 1933 in Magherafelt, Northern Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Margaret (Tohill) O'Hagan. Amelia attended local schools in Magherafelt. She has lived in South Hadley for 34 years and was a communicant of St. Theresa's Church. In 1957, Amelia was visiting her sister Margaret in Seville, Spain when she met Edward who was stationed there with the U.S. Air Force. Amelia and Edward married in 1963 in St. Thomas More Catholic Church in London, England. Amelia was a loving and caring person. Her greatest joy was her love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and family holiday gatherings. Amelia and Edward enjoyed many travels back to her home to visit with her family and friends and trips to Pennsylvania to visit with Edward's family along with visits to Nebraska and Kentucky to visit their children. In her leisure, she enjoyed shopping and trips to the Casinos. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 44 years Edward O'Boyle. Amelia is also survived and will be sadly missed by her four children Barbara Mason and her husband Richard of Omaha, NE, Edward O'Boyle of Omaha, NE, John O'Boyle and his wife Astrid of Elizabethtown, KY and Colleen Mytkowicz and her husband Clint of Belchertown. Her six siblings survive her, a twin sister Bridget Hagan, Georgina Flewin, Vera Gorrod all of England, Kathy Wolfendon of Chicopee, Frances Walton of Coleman, TX and Josephine Bartolotta of East Hampton, CT. She leaves her precious grandchildren Colleen Marie, Shannon, Erin, Sean and Patrick and two great grandchildren Shea and Brendan along with many loving relatives, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Amelia was predeceased in death by seven siblings James, Harold, Jack, Gerald, Patrick, Mary and Margaret. The family of Amelia extends gratitude to Holyoke Medical Center, to the doctors and the caregivers of Amelia who made her stay so comfortable and to the Holyoke Visiting Nurses and Hospice for their gentle care. All services are private and Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements. The family asks that In lieu of flowers, donations be made in Amelia's memory to the Holyoke Visiting Nurse and Hospice or to the American Cancer Society. "
