Obituary of Andrew T. Sears

"Belchertown- Andrew T. Sears, 87, of Green Ave. passed away April 26, 2008 at Wingate in South Hadley. Born July 6, 1920, he was the son of the late Andrew J. and Lillian (Barter) Sears. Andrew was born, raised and lived all of his life here in Belchertown, serving as Deputy Chief of Police, selectman, and constable. He proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army Air Corps and the Flying Tigers. Andrew was a member of the Elks, Knights of Columbus, Union Grange and Belchertown Senior Center. He worked for 44 years and retired from the former Chapman Valve Crane Company in Indian Orchard and took much enjoyment in his dogs, watching birds and gardening. Andrew was predeceased by his wife Victoria (Karczmarczyk) in 1990, and will be greatly missed by his children Andrew J. of Largo, FL, Marcia Sears of Chesapeake Beach, MD, and Jonathan with whom he lived. Besides his wife, he was also predeceased by his two sisters Madeline Smith and Barbara Terry. Funeral services will begin Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Church. Burial will be in South Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. For those wishing, donations may be made in his memory to the charity of one's choice. "
