Obituary of Howard Roger Griswold

"Palmer-Howard Roger "Snooky" Griswold, 86, of Breckenridge St. passed away March 24, 2008 at Wing Memorial Hospital. Born in Palmer, MA on September 4, 1921, son of the late William F. and Annabelle (Wells) Griswold. Howard served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Shubrick and USS LST 377. In 1946, Howard began working with his father at the family business started in 1918, Griswold Park Garage. In 1966, Howard took over the business and continued running it as Griswold Glass with his wife until his retirement. He was a member of the Oddfellows in Monson. Howard will be greatly missed by his wife of 65 years, Emily A. (Zebrowski), along with his children and their spouses, Kathleen J. Pelletier of Wilbraham, William R. and Jeffrey K. both of Palmer, and Claudia A. Shields of Ware. Howard also leaves 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. A visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Committal services will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Knoll Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to the Springfield Rescue Mission. "
