Obituary of Guy C. Lucia

"Wales – Guy C. Lucia, Sr., 86, of Reed Hill Rd., passed away on March 21, 2008 at Wingate at Wilbraham. Born May 18, 1921 in Ware, MA, he was the son of the late Merrill and Harriet M. (Thomas) Lucia. Mr. Lucia has lived in Wales since 2001 and previously resided for 25 years in Belchertown. He served in country in the US Army/Air Force during WWII. Guy retired from Service Employees International Union in Boston, MA after working for 10 years. He was a life member of the Swift River Sportsman's Club in Belchertown. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley B. (Flanigan) Lucia in 2001. He will be missed by four children James D., Lucia Sr. of Bridgewater, MA, David B. Lucia of Shelburne, VT, Tom Lucia and his wife Judy of Preston, Idaho and Guy "Gary" Lucia, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Wales. He also leaves a sister Madge Pixley of Belchertown, a brother Merrill Lucia and his wife Carole of Chaplin, CT, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family of Guy Lucia, Sr. would like to express thanks to the staff at Wingate of Wilbraham Nursing home for the dedicated care of their father. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday March 28, 2008 at the Beers and Story Palmer Funeral Home. A Calling hour will precede the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Town of Wales C/O Public Library or C/O Wales Senior Center, Main St., Wales, MA 01081.
