Obituary of Sebastian E. Dudek

"Belchertown - Sebastian "Joe" E. Dudek, 90, of Bardwell St., a lifelong resident passed away on February 29, 2008 at the Veterans Hospital in Leeds, MA. Born May 26, 1917 in Chicopee, MA, he was the son of the late Martin and Mary (Kopacz) Dudek. Mr. Dudek served his country in the US Army during WWII in company G 26th Yankee Division. He was the most highly decorated WWII Veteran in the Town of Belchertown and a charter member of the VFW post 8428, life member of the American Legion post 239 and life member of chapter 75 Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Dudek was a dairy farmer since 1951 on his farm in Belchertown and he was the first Zoning officer in town resigning in 1963. He was a communicant of the former St. Adalbert's Church and a member of St. Mary's Polish Club in Bondsville. He will be missed by two nephews Francis Dudek and Edward Dudek of Belchertown, two nieces Maryann Plante of ME and Carole Lipp of CA. He also leaves a close friend Thomas Spellman of Belchertown and eight grandnieces and nephews. Besides his parents, ten brothers and sisters predeceased him. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 9:15 a.m. from the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's memory to St. Francis Church Building Fund or a charity of ones choice.
