Obituary of Richard G. McCallum

"Richard G. McCallum, passed away on February 27, 2008 at Baystate Medical Center. Rich was the son of the late Earl and Elizabeth (Rae) McCallum who lived most of their life in Belchertown. Rich was born in Heidelberg, Germany in 1947 when his father was stationed there in the United States Army. Rich graduated from Belchertown High School in 1965 and lettered on many athletic teams. He was an avid sports fan and cheered for his favorite teams, the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins. He loved to fish in Quabbin Reservoir and the Quaboag River with his fishing buddy, Eddie. Rich leaves his three brothers Douglas W. McCallum of W. Springfield with whom he lived, Earl McCallum of Chicopee and Robert McCallum of Three Rivers. He loved his many nephews and nieces and always enjoyed bringing their kids treats, especially "The Three Munchkins" in South Hadley. He will be missed by his godmother Marion Desjarlais, his cousins and friends who knew him as a really great guy. A Funeral Service will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, followed by burial in South Cemetery.
