Obituary of Arthur Socko Osborne

"Arthur (Socko) H. Osborne, 88, formerly of South Hadley, died on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Wingate of South Hadley with his family by his side. Born on May 24, 1919, he was the son of the late Howard and Helen (Paulke) Osborne. He resided in South Hadley for most of his life before relocating to Ft. Myers, FL in 1995. He recently moved back to this area. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. Arthur was a member of the American Legion Post 274 in Ft. Myers, a member of the Mount Holyoke Lodge and past president of the New England Association of Plumbing & Gas Inspectors, Inc. He was the South Hadley Plumbing Inspector for over 20 and headed the Board of Health for 10 years. In his leisure he enjoyed his trips to Mystic, C T and Mason Island. His wife, Margaret L. (Ross), predeceased him in 1995. He will be sadly missed by his son Craig Osborne and his wife Constance of Holyoke along with his three grandchildren, Linda Hibbard of Ludlow, Holly Burton of Belchertown, Lori Brissette of Ludlow and 5 great grandchildren. His two sisters, Thelma Constance of South Hadley and Alice Bell of Gainesville, GA and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Fuette and Mary Ellen Provost both of Holyoke, also survive him. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home have been entrusted with funeral arrangements. Memorial donations may be made in Socko's memory to: South Hadley Council on Aging, 45 Dayton St., South Hadley, MA 01075."
