Obituary of Richard D. Bowers

"Richard Donald "Rick" Bowers, 59, of Rockrimmon Rd., passed away at home on Monday, February 25 with his family by his side. Born December 6, 1948 in Springfield, MA he is the son of Edna Bowers Brando of Springfield and the late Freeman A. Bowers, Jr. Rick grew up in Springfield and graduated from Springfield Tech in 1968 and has been a resident of Belchertown since 1980. He was the owner and operator of Belchertown Glass for 23 years and previously worked for Smith & Wesson for 13 ½ years. Rick enjoyed playing tennis and golf and was a member of the Ludlow Tennis Club and the Ludlow Loafers Golf League. Besides his mother Edna, he will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 27 years, Wendy (Alexander) Bowers, two sons Kevin Weiss and his wife Kathy of Belchertown and R. Cory Bowers and his wife Lindsey of Lafayette, CO. He also leaves a sister Laurie Ann Bowers-Kane and her husband John of Murrieta, CA, a brother Bob and his wife Linda of Agawam, two grandsons Griffin and Trevor Weiss, as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 29 at 10:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St, (Rte. 202). Calling hours with a video tribute will be on Thursday, February 28 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
