Obituary of Martina S. Avis

"Palmer – Martina S. Avis, 66, of Pleasant St. in Bondsville, passed away at Baystate Medical Center on February 7, 2008. Born April 27, 1941 in Portland Maine, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Hazel (Griggs) Cody. She was a graduate of Monson High School and from Mansfield Beauty Academy in Springfield. Martina has been a resident of Bondsville for over 40 years. Martina was a member of the Red Hats Society and enjoyed going to the beach, the outdoors and making crafts. She loved camping with her family at the Outdoor World Camp Ground in Sturbridge. Martina was an active member of the camp ground and performed in many camp variety shows. She was preceded in death by her loving guardians Edward and Marion Johnson and four siblings Teddy, James and Robert Johnson and Rena Meyer. She will be deeply missed by her husband Michael W. Avis of 30 years. She will also be missed by her four children Lori Killian and her fiancé Michael Shelton of Palmer, Cherie Wawrzonek and her husband Philip of Brimfield, Kimberly Killian of Bondsville and Sean Killian and his wife Jennifer of W. Warren. She leaves nine grandchildren Jessika, Christopher, Ryan, Dennis, Abigal, Cody, Jude, Lena and Shivhan and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, followed by burial in Four Corners Cemetery. A Calling hour will precede the service from 10:30-11:30 a.m. "
