Obituary of Kathleen Mary Burns

" Belchertown—Kathleen M. (McNamara) Burns, 56, of Clearbrook Dr., died Friday, Aug. 30, at home surrounded by her family. Born Oct. 23, 1945 in Worcester, MA, she was the daughter of the late John T & Cleone D. (Landroch) McNamara. Kathleen attended schools in Spencer, MA before moving to Springfield in the late 1950’s, she graduated from Cathedral High School in 1963. In 1964 Kathleen married her high school sweetheart Alfred H. Burns, Jr. who predeceased her Nov. 1, 2002, she and Alfred moved to Belchertown in 1973 . She was a stay at home mom for years before returning to the work force doing what she loved insurance. She worked for Bernard Lavoie Insurance in Ludlow for 3 years before starting her own business with her partner Jim Crosby. She currently owned Personalized Insurance Agency in E. Longmeadow from 1983-2002. Kathleen and her husband Alfred enjoyed Caribbean Vacationing and camping at there campsite in Monson. She was a PTA member when her children were young, she belonged to the MAIA, IIA, and was a avid supporter of local charities. She was a communicant of St. Francis Church. She is survived by 3 daughters Tracey and her husband David Fournier, April Burns and CaroleAnne and her husband Christopher Donoghue all of Belchertown. She also leaves a sister Sandra Beatson of Spencer, MA, 4 grandchildren Katelyn & Ryan Donoghue and Matthew & Erica Fournier, also 2 nieces Elizabeth McDuffie & MaryAnne Simonovitch both Spencer, a nephew Joe Beatson of ME, an aunt Evelina Robinson of Spencer, many cousins and extended family, friends and customers whom loved her very much. Funeral services will be Sat. Sept. 7, at 9:15am from the BEERS & STORY BELCHERTOWN FUNERAL HOME, followed by a mass of Christian liturgy at 10:00am in St. Francis Church, she will be buried next to her husband in Lake Vale cemetery.
