Obituary of Richard M. Watson

"Richard M. Watson, 72, passed away January 6, 2008 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born March 14, 1935 in N. Kingston, RI, he was the son of the late Louis and Jenny (Cole) Watson. He spent most of his adult life in Ludlow, wintering for many years in Port Richey, FL, recently moving to Belchertown. He was a meat cutter for over 50 years and formerly owned Alexander’s market in Florence for several years. He was presently working at Tenczar’s market in Three Rivers. Among the many things enjoyed in his leisure were his family, nature and the Red Sox. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 53 years, Edna (Roberts) Watson, along with six daughters, Beverly Scagliarini and her husband Gary, Donna Desautels and her husband Robert, and Alice Taylor all of Ludlow, Carol Maki of Westfield, Ellen Cronin and her husband Lou of Belchertown and Tracey Melbourne and her husband Todd of Springfield. His 13 precious grandchildren will also miss him. Four sisters, Caroline Hermanson of Monson, Ruth Vadnais of Ware, Kate Goodrich of NC and Linda Culverwell of FL and a brother Robert of CA survive him. Three brothers David, Douglas and Prescott and 2 sisters Judith Lecours and Marion Carlson preceded him in death. Calling hours will be Wednesday, January 9 from 5:00 –8:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St., (Rte 202). A Service to Celebrate his Life will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The family requests that donations be made in his memory to the American Lung Association. "
