Obituary of Rita R. Chevalier

"Rita R. Chevalier, 92, of Phins Hill, died Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at her home. Born in Holyoke on January 27, 1915, she was the daughter of the late John and Louise (Poitras) Mettey. She was raised Holyoke and was a graduate of Holyoke High School. She relocated to Granby in 1948. She was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and was member of their Women’s Club. She was also an active member of the Granby Grange. Rita worked as a Nurses Aid for Holyoke Hospital and Loomis House in Holyoke. She was an avid doll collector. She was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph Kingsley in 1967 and her second husband, Leo Chevalier in 1976. She will be deeply missed by her family who loved her, a son Robert Kingsley and his wife Francine of Granby, her daughter-in-law Mary Ann Kingsley of South Hadley. She will also be missed by six grandchildren, Thomas, Joseph and his wife Susanne, Karen Kingsley, Joanne O’Connell and her husband Brian, Suzanne Day and her husband Mark and John Kingsley and nine great grandchildren. Her son John and grandson Michael Kingsley also predeceased her. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday, December 7 at 11:30 a.m. for a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. at 12:30 p.m. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton Street (Rte, 116). Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made in Rita’s memory to a charity of one’s choice. "
