Obituary of Helene Koss Yeames

"Helene Koss Yeames, 96, of Colonial Park, died Tuesday, November 20 at Harrington Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. Born on September 2, 1911, in Waterbury, Ct, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Adeline Koss. She moved to Brimfield in 1964. Helene was a very active member of the Brimfield First Congregational Church, holding many positions on various committees. She was a member of the Ladies Benevolent Society and spoke often about church stewardship. Helene served on The Board of Directors at the Housing for the Elderly, was very active in the Senior Center, and helped establish the Town Council on Aging. She enjoyed traveling, visiting her family in NH, and vacations in Arizona to visit her brother Herb. She was a fabulous baker and cook. Her beloved husband, Hawtrey, predeceased Helene in 1968 as did her brother Edward. She will be deeply missed by her son James and his wife Diana Prescott-Yeames of NH, her brother Herb Koss of AZ, nephews Scott Koss of AZ and Ned Koss of CO, and her dear friend Sally Meitzler of Brimfield. A memorial service will be held on December 15th at 11:00 AM at the Brimfield Congregational Church. Beers and Story Palmer Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made in Helene and Hawtrey's memory to the First Congregational Church Good Samaritan Fund or Music Fund, P O Box 203, Brimfield, MA 01010. A private burial service will be held in the spring. "
