Obituary of Mary L. Skowyra

" Mary L. (Strychaz) Skowyra, 90, of Mashpaug Rd., died Friday, October 5 at Life Care Center in Wilbraham. Born in Palmer, July 13, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Catherine (Holda) Strychaz. Mary was raised in Palmer and has lived in Holland since 1972. She spent many winters in Barefoot Bay, FL. She worked as an executive secretary for the former Jarvis and Jarvis in Palmer and Monson Developmental Center. A communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle, she was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and she also attended St. Christopher’s Church. Besides her parents, her husband, Stanley, predeceased her in 1994. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Marian Morris and her husband Dennis of Holland, son Thomas of Palmer, along with her six grandchildren, Christopher Wojtowicz and his wife Andrea of Upton, Jayne Beck and her husband Christopher of NJ, Jeff Wojtowicz of Holland, Nicole Wojtowicz of Hawaii, and Matthew Skowyra of Palmer and Lauren Skowyra of Orlando, FL. Mary also leaves four great grandchildren Abigail, Zachary, Emily and Jack. Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 10 at 9:15 from the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St., (Rte 20) followed by a liturgy of Christian burial at 10:00 in St. Thomas Church. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. For those wishing, donations may be made to the VNA Hospice, 50 Maple St., Springfield. "
