Obituary of Robert W. Hopewell

" Robert W. Hopewell, 76, of Alvord Place died Friday, October 5, 2007. Born in Quincy, November 12, 1930, he was the son of the late Homer and Marion (Barrett) Hopewell. Raised in Holyoke, he has lived in S. Hadley for 50 years. Bob was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and spent his working life as a master mechanic and an area supervisor for Western Mass. Electric Company. He retired in 1991 after 35 years of service. He loved horses, golf and enjoyed cross country traveling. He was also a 25 year member of the Elks Lodge 902. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 55 years, Phyllis (Grimaldi) Hopewell, his loving children, James and his wife Heidi of Las Vegas, NV, Cynthia Mittler and her husband David of Wilbraham, and Lisa Roy and her husband Robert of E. Longmeadow. He also leaves his 6 precious grandchildren Todd and Troy Mittler, Robbie and Jessica Roy, Crystal Provost and Hunter Hopewell, along with a great grandson Michael Mittler. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Dorothy Mullins and Capt. William Hopewell. Calling hours will be Monday, October 8 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Beers and Story S. Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St., (Rte. 116). A funeral service will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Following cremation, he will be interred privately at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
