Obituary of Rosemary R. Rasmussen

" Rosemary R. Rasmussen, 80, of South Main Street died Monday at Health South Rehabilitation Hospital of Western Massachusetts in Ludlow. She was born in Springfield on February 24, 1922, the only daughter of the late H. Morgan Ryther and Gladys May (Fairbanks) Ryther. Living in Enfield, Athol and the surrounding areas, she has been a resident of Belchertown since 1979. Rosemary attended the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston until she went into the Navy WAVES, Women Activated for Volunteer Emergency Service, during WWII. In the Navy, she met and married her husband Calvin L. Rasmussen. She was a housewife and later worked in the Belchertown School System as a secretary until her retirement. Rosemary loved to read, watch birds and play classical music on the piano. She is survived by her two daughters, Carol Anne Rasmussen of Belchertown and Christine and her husband Dennis Cook of Newport, NJ. She was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Calvin L. Rasmussen in 1979, and a son Andrew. Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral home is handling the arrangements. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Belchertown Congregational Church. Burial will follow in Quabbin Park Cemetery. Calling hours have been omitted. "
