Obituary of Walter Normandin

" Walter A. Normandin, 77, of Main St in the Thorndike section of Palmer died Mon. in Bay state Medical Center. Born in Springfield, Jan. 22, 1925, he was the son of the late Armand and Marguerite (Leduc) Normandin. He lived in Springfield, and Somers, CT before moving to Holyoke where he lived for 10 years. He relocated to Palmer in 1998. He was a 1949 graduate of AIC in Business Administration and served with the US Army during WWII. He worked at the family’s business, Fitzgerald Cleaners in Springfield for 10 years many years ago. He was a 20 year manager of Howmet Corp in W. Springfield and then the manager of C & S Distributors in S. Windsor, CT for 13 years until his retirement in 1988. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 47 years, the former Mary Elyn (correct spelling) Hennessey who died in 1997. He is survived by his devoted daughters Mary Ann Patnaude of Woronoco, and Pamela Ann Hyder of Wilbraham. Walter also leaves five cherished grandchildren, Jamie and Ellen Mary Piangerelli, and Cara, Vaughn and Michael Hyder. A funeral mass will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Church on Plumtree Road in Springfield followed by burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may gather at Beers & Story palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St at 8:30 a.m. prior to the mass.
