Obituary of Kevin G. Truehart

"Leverett, Kevin G. Truehart, 52, died Tuesday at Baystate Medical Center following his battle with cancer. Born in Northampton, MA, February 24, 1955, he was the son of the late Alice (Silvonic) and Clarence Truehart. Kevin grew up in the Leverett and Amherst area and attended Amherst Regional High School. He furthered his education and pursued his career in the field of law enforcement. He began his career in Amherst as a part- time officer and then moved to Belchertown for his 27-year full time position. He was a 33-year veteran of both the Amherst and Belchertown Police Departments. In his time served with the Belchertown Department, he achieved the rank of Detective. Kevin also received many awards and commendations for his service to law enforcement. In his leisure, he enjoyed many outdoor activities, among them, hunting, fishing and farming. He also had a passion for tending the many perennial gardens his mother started and continuing the tradition of annual canning of the garden vegetables. He will be deeply missed by his two daughters Kristina Mitchell and her husband Gary of Rowe, and Kimberly Truehart and her husband Tarik Coble of Sunderland. Mamo also leaves his precious granddaughters Kaileann and Niema Coble, also known as Annzie McFanzie and Nuckawucka along with his nieces including Dawn Cavanaugh of Agawam and two her daughters. Besides his parents, Kimberly’s mother Tammy (Alley) Truehart predeceased him.
