Obituary of William Joseph Barrett

" William J. Barrett, 83, of Little Alum Rd., died Saturday at home. Born in Holyoke, MA, April 3, 1918, he was the son of the late James and Marion (Walsh) Barrett. He has lived in Brimfield since 1972, and previously living in both Springfield and South Hadley. He was a WWII Army veteran. He was a graduate of South Hadley High School in 1935. William was a member of the Bethany Charismatic Catholic Church. He was a Postal Clerk at the Springfield Post Office for 33 and 1/2 years and retired in 1972. He was a member of the National Retired Federal Employees Association. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Bock) Barrett who passed away Nov. 28, 2001. He is survived by 2 daughters Mary E. Young of Fairfield, IL and Ruth A. Staples of Indian Orchard. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and many loving friends. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Bethany Charismatic Catholic Church in Brimfield. Burial will follow in Brimfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Donations may be made in his memory to Bethany Charismatic Catholic Church P.O.
