Obituary of Daniel Roy Monette

" Daniel R. Monette, 52, formerly of S. Main St. died Sunday at Wingate at Wilbraham Nursing Home after a long illness. Born in Palmer, Sept. 8, 1949 he was the son of Elsie (Keith) Monette of Monson, and the late Raymond R. Monette (1975). He worked for the family painting business for many years, Raymond Monette & Sons, and also worked as a painter at Monson Developmental Center from 1982—1998. Dan was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also served with the Marine Corp during Vietnam, and was discharged as a Corporal. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and the Cross of Gallantry with palm. Dan is survived by his wife, the former Julie Rioux, a son Shaun Harvey and a daughter Nicole Harvey both of Belchertown. He also leaves 4 brothers, Thomas Brown of Monson, Kenneth Brown of Three Rivers, Allen Brown of Feeding Hills, and Joe Monette of Tolland, CT, as well as a sister Diane Tucker of Coventry, CT. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wed. at 10:00 a.m. in the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, followed by burial in Bethany Cemetery, Monson. Calling hours are Tues. from 2:00—4:00 & 7:00—9:00 pm. Please make donations in his memory to either Wingate at Wilbraham Activities Fund, 9 Maple St, Wilbraham 01095 or American Liver Foundation. "
