Obituary of Leo H. Blanchard

"Chicopee - Leo H. “Bucky” Blanchard, 80, passed away July 1, 2007 surrounded by his family. Born September 1, 1926 in Chicopee, MA, son of the late Henry M. and Anna (Melancon) Blanchard. Leo has lived in Chicopee since 1998 and previously resided in South Hadley for 50 years. He retired in 1988 from the South Hadley School Department where he worked for over 20 years as a custodian. Previously he worked for Steven’s Paper in South Hadley. In his leisure enjoyed camping, making airplanes, collecting lighthouses and walks on the beach. Most of all he cherished spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Shirley D. (Paul) Blanchard. He also leaves his children Sandra Ringuette, Richard and Debra Blanchard of Chicopee, Joanne Mann, Russell and Debra Blanchard, Bruce Blanchard, and Tina and Brian Couture of South Hadley. He will also be missed by a sister Dorilla Theriault of Chicopee, fourteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and many close friends. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. Calling hours are Thursday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made in his memory to Hospice Life Care of Holyoke, 113 Hampden St., Holyoke, MA 01040 or to a charity of ones choice. "
