Obituary of Alice Muriel Adams

" Alice M. Adams, of Palmer Rd. died Tuesday at Mary Lyon Nursing Home. Born Dec. 4, 1916 in Norwood, MA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Tierney) Lee. Alice graduated for Norwood High School and resided in Springfield from 1938-1947, where she was employed at the Springfield Armory. Moving to Brimfield in 1947, she owned and operated The Woodbine Country Store until her retirement in 1964. She was a member of the Brimfield Volunteer Fire Department during those years and the fire department’s emergency telephone and alarm were located at the Woodbine. She was also a member of the Brimfield Board of Selectmen, served at one time as interim Town Clerk, and also served for many years as a member of the Brimfield Housing Authority. She was an active member of the Wing Memorial Hospital Women’s Auxiliary. Mrs. Adams was a communicant of St. Christopher’s Church and part of the Catholic Women’s Club. She leaves her husband of 59 years, George B. Adams, two sons, Lee and Susan Adams of Brimfield and Bruce Adams of Tampa, FL. She is also survived by a brother, Thomas Lee of Norwood, MA as well as 2 grandchildren, Allison Jones of Greensboro, NC and Lincoln Adams of Jacksonville, FL. A funeral mass will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Christopher’s Church. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Brimfield Cemetery. Calling hours are omitted. Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Christopher’s Church, Sturbridge Rd., Brimfield, MA 01010. "
