Obituary of Elvie C. Soriano

"South Hadley – Elvie C. Soriano, 73, of Riverboat Village Rd., died May 18, 2007 at Holyoke Medical Center. Born September 2, 1933, in Bruce, W. Virginia, he was the son of the late Fulgencio and Mabel Soriano. After high school he joined the US Air Force and served during the Korean War. While in the military for over 20 years, he and his family were stationed at Otis Air Force Base, Japan, Alaska and New Mexico and he retired in 1971. Elvie. Has been a resident of South Hadley for eight years and previously lived in Springfield for 20 years. He retired in 1997 from Longview Fiber Co, in W. Springfield and previously was employed at Baystate Medical Center as a boiler fireman. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Hazel (Daigle) Soriano and three children Wayne and his wife Diane of Granby, Brian and his wife Julie of Springfield and Tina LaScala and her husband Richard of Chicopee. He also leaves a sister Marge McCraken of Ohio and grandchildren Nicholas, Alyssa and Samantha Soriano and Gina LaScala. A Funeral Service will be Wednesday at 11:45 a.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St. (Rt. 116). A Committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Donations may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association, 306 Industrial Park Rd., Suite 105 Middletown, CT 06457. "
