Obituary of Lester E. Ely

"Belchertown- Lester E. Ely, 58, of Federal St. passed away May 8, 2007 at Baystate Medical Center. Born May 15, 1948 in Northampton, he was the son of the late Robert E. and Mabel (Fay) Ely. Lester grew up on Gulf Rd. and has lived all of his life in Belchertown. He was an avid outdoorsman and took much enjoyment in hunting, fishing, nature and animals. He opened his doors to many and allowed extended family, friends and neighbors to be a part of the Ely household. Lester will be greatly missed by his wife of 39 years, Jo Ann (LeDuc) as well as his children, Lester Michael and his wife Lori of Marcus, Iowa, Nancy Baker and her husband Chris of Northampton, Edee Lofland and her husband Ed, Sandra Ely and her fiancé Eric Leduc, and Beckie Ely all of Belchertown. He also leaves his 12 cherished grandchildren, Felicia, Shaun, Samantha, Elizabeth, Joey, Cory, Jonathan, Tiffani, Ryan, Brianna, Kylee, and Nicholas along with siblings Walter and Richard Ely, Edith Cross, Ruth Liles, and Barbara Delsapio. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 14th at 1:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home followed by burial in South Cemetery.
