Obituary of Walter Roy Chamberlain

"Walter R. Chamberlain, 94, of Shearer St. died Saturday at home. Born in Springfield on July 4, 1907, he was the son of the later Carrie (Bickford) and Fred F. Chamberlain. Walter worked as a manager at Baystate Paint and Wallpapter in Springfield and retired in 1972. He also worked for Old Sturbridge Village as an interpreter until 1985. While caring for his wife, he volunteered at Wing Memorial Hospital for four and a half years. He was also a past grandmaster of the Hampden Lodge of Masons and a member of numberous church organizations, at St. Mary's Church, where he was a member. Walter leaves two sons, Rt. Rev. Bruce S. of Madison, NH and Rev. Canon Donald F. of Holden, MA as well as seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruby M. (Stewart) in 1997 as well as three grandchildren. A memorial service will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Mary's Memorial Fund, 1018 Foster St., Palmer, MA 01069 or to Quaboag Valley Hospice, 103 Fairview St., Palmer, MA 01069."
