Obituary of Irene Florence Cope

"Irene Florence (Prosack) Cope, 89, former long time resident of Palmer, died April 22, 2007 at Autumn village in Worcester. Born in Shenandoah, PA, January 4, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Alberth and Victoria (Ciszek) Prosack and lived in Palmer for most of her life. She ran the Corner Grocery Story at 660 North Main Street in Palmer for 40 years, retiring in 1982. She was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church for 55 years and a long time member of the Rosary Sodality within the church. Predeceased by her husband, Stephen in 1983, she is survived by a son Stephen, II, of Worcester and a daughter Elaine Zabawa of Wilton Manors, FL, along with 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. One of 11 children, Irene was predeceased by 8 siblings, and is survived by two brothers, Leonard Prosack of Sharon, MA and Henry Prosack of Vienna, VA. Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Friends and family may gather to pay respects and attend a liturgy of Christian burial, Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Church in Palmer. Interment will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Thomas Church, Thorndike St., Palmer, 01069. "
