Obituary of James Ruben Lemon

" James Ruben Lemon, Jr. 66 of Pine Street, Palmer, died Thursday at home with his family by his side. Born in Belchertown, May 25, 1935, he was the son of the late James R. and Lillian (Eskett) Lemon, Sr. He grew up in Belchertown, and moved to Palmer 35 years ago. Mr. Lemon was a Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean War, and was a member of the Amvets in Three Rivers, the American Legion Post 239 in Belchertown, a life member of the VFW Post 2577 in Ware, and the past commander of the VFW 8428 in Belchertown. He was also the former Second Assistanct Fire Chief in Bondsville, and a former member of the Belchertown Fire Department. Mr. Lemon worked as a grounds keeper at the former Belchertonw State School for ten years. He had previously worked for F.R. Peeso Construction in Belchertown. Jim is survived by his wife Carol (Cieslak) Lemon, a daughter, Patti-Ann McMillan of Palmer, 2 step sons, Leon parent of Palmer, and Keith Parent of Thorndike, as well as a step daughter Candice Davis of Ware. He also leaves a sister Helen Stone of Oviedo, FL, a brother Howard Lemon of Maynardville, TN, twelve grandchildren and one great grandson. The funeral will be Monday at 9:00 a.m. from the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Thomas Church. Following cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Sunday from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. The family requests that donations be made in his memory to either the Quaboag Valley Hospice, 103 Fairview St, Palmer, 01069 or the the American Lung Assoication of Western Mass., 393 Mpale Street, Springfield, 01105.
