Obituary of Arthur Leon Jarrett

" Arthur L. Jarrett, 79, of Metacomet Street, died Saturday at Riverdale Gardens Nursing Home, West Springfield. Born in Chicopee, September 12, 1921, he was the son of the late Ovilla and Julia (Blaine) Jarrett. He lived in Chicopee for many years before moving to Belchertown in 1972. Mr. Jarrett was a press operator of tennis and golf balls at Spaulding Corporation in Chicopee, Massachusetts. He worked for the company for 38 years before retiring in 1983. He was the secretary for the Teamsters Union during that time. He was an avid golfer and belonged to Mill Valley Country Club in Belchertown. Arthur was also a member of the Senior Center. Mr. Jarrett is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Anita Patnode. He also leaves two daughters, Dorothy Cichonski of Chicopee, MA and Jean Jarrett of Provincetown, MA. His three brothers, Armand of Camden, Maine, Donald of Belchertown, and Raymond of Chicopee also survive him. His grandson, Jeffrey Cichonski lives in Enfield, CT and his other grandson, Robert Cichonski lives in Chicopee, MA. Funeral services will be Tuesday morning, August 14, 2001 at 9:00 a.m. from the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, followed by a mass of Christian burial in St. Francis Church, 10 Park St, Belchertown to begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in South Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. only.
