There was something eternal about Bob's spirit; so much so that I never dreamt he would leave this world before me. He was a wonderful co-worker, and a first rate scientist.

Donna, Fred, Brian, Brenda and Families: There are too many words to describe Uncle Bob: kind, considerate, fun-loving, generous, caring, intelligent, family oriented... The list is as long as the memories. We loved him, respected him and admired him. And now, we will miss him dearly. He truly was a great man. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Bob was a kind, gracious, and delightful man. He was a cherished friend to my parents. He charmed my wife when she met him at Echo Lake. He was a wonderful hiking companion for me as a young boy, and then man. Thank you Bob, for sharing your time on this earth with us.

As a dear friend of sister Joyce, I would frequently call or visit the Kruse farm near Trimont. Even then, older brother Bob was pleasant, and level-headed. He has remained throughout all these years Joyce's Hero.

Brian, I worked with your Dad at Monsanto and Bayer. He was a support for me at many times, made me laugh and taught me much. I'll always treasure the memories (like his retimement party. I have video and pictures). I did still see him at the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) meetings and missed his presence last year. The SPE will miss him and I personally will treasure all the memories of him. I'm sure your Dad let you know how much he loved you but I must tell you... He was so happy you were there. He was so proud of your son. (we traded pictures) I'm glad he had you and the opportunity to enjoy a little one. He did deserve it. May he look down on us all with love always.

I first meet Bob in 1992, when I arrived to work for Monsanto in Springfield. I liked him instantly. Having been raised in Iowa, we shared our midwestern heritage as well as a love for teaching. He quickly became a mentor for me and I enjoined every interaction we had and appreciated all the opportunities he afforded me. I doubt he ever realized what an impact he had on me. I am sorry that I was not able to get to know him better. The world needs people like Bob Kruse - they make it a better place. My deepest condolences. Though his physical presence will be missed, our memories of him will be with us always. Mark Heininger

Brian, Donna & the other members of the Kruse family, My deepest sympathies are with you in our loss of Bob. He and I never worked together on a project at Monsanto, but we used to talk at the Xerox. We talked a lot about the Springfield schools & about his energy-saving house in the Belchertown hills. He was a wise & caring person & I will miss him. I don't know where in heaven the Lutheran camp is, but I'll bet Bob is there questioning how to make it better. Craig

Brian & Donna, Your father was a man of profound grace. Although technically exceptional his sense of humanity was equally impressive. High intellect can be misunderstood: a circumstance he addressed with playful mirth (did I mention his grace?). Fortunately, I had him for several courses; his enthusiasm as a teacher was delightful and went beyond instruction. He was challenging and fun to work for, and we were blessed to have known such a noble spirit. Good men are conspicuous by their presence; great men by their absence; your Dad was a great man. Your loss is our loss.

My late husband, Ted had such respect for Bob. Ted worked for Monsanto and enjoyed interacting with Bob. When our oldest son was born, Ted was with Bob at a Gordon Conference in New Hampshire. Before Ted's unexpected departure from the conference, Bob and Ted hiked together and no doubt spoke of the joys of fatherhood. I was so sorry to learn of your father's death, but I will always remember him with fond memories. Sincerely, Susan H. Steger
