Obituary of Pamela Bilton

"Pamela (Rathbone) Bilton, 66, of Cedar Hill St., died Monday, April 2 at home. Born in Ware, September 20, 1940, she was the daughter of Cornelia (Geyer) Rathbone of Palmer and the late Frederick C. Rathbone. Pam was a lifelong resident of Palmer and a graduate of Mary Burnham Preparatory School in Northampton. She attended Endicott College and received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Springfield College. She was a 30-year teacher in the Monson school system, retiring in 1992. She spent many years at Hillside School and Quarry Hill. Pam was a life long member of the Second Congregational Church and a 50-year member of its choir. She was also active on many committees at the church, including the Women’s Fellowship, the Diaconate, and a member of the Executive Committee. She was also a member of the Tuesday Club and the Ebenezer Learned Chapter of DAR in Oxford. Besides her mother, she will be deeply missed by her husband of 41 years, Albert E. Bilton, her daughter Jennifer Kirby and her husband Shawn of Belchertown, along with her brother, Frederick, Jr. of Palmer. She also leaves a brother in law Richard W. Bilton of FL, two sisters in law Rosalie Bilton of E. Longmeadow and Judith Delaney of Springfield, her uncle James Rathbone of Chelmsford and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 10 at 11:00 a.m. in the Second Congregational Church followed by burial in Oak Knoll Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, April 9 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. For those wishing, donations may be made in her memory to either Second Congregational Church Choir, 1080 Pleasant St., Palmer or Quaboag Valley Hospice, 44B Wright St., Palmer, 01069 or a charity of one’s choice. "
