Obituary of John J Adams

"Belchertown - John J. Adams, 84, died on March 26, 2019 with his devoted family by his side. He was born August 8, 1934 in Northampton, son of Michael and Mabel (Trudeau) Adams. He was a 39 year resident and had also lived in Granby and Port Richey, Florida. A proud veteran, he served his country in the US Navy during the Korea War and was a longtime member of the American Legion. John was a self employed auto mechanic, owning two service stations, one in Northampton, one in S. Hadley. He will be deeply missed by wife of 65 years, Loretta (Veillette) Adams, daughters, Sandra Hooten and her husband Jacques, Cynthia Flynn and her husband Michael, all of Belchertown, and Judith Briggs of Westbrook, CT, along with his 11 precious grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren who affectionately called him Papa. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Michael Adams and his three sisters. Muriel, Joan and Noni. Family and friends may gather at 10:00 am on Monday, April 1 at Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home to process to St. Francis Church for a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.
