Obituary of Norman J. Deshaies

Norman J. Deshaies, 88 and a long time resident of South Hadley, was called safely home on Wednesday, April 22, 2020. He passed into eternal life at the Soldier's Home in Holyoke. Norman was born in Torrington, CT on December 28, 1931 to the late Ronald and Noella (Houle) Deshaies. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 9, 1954 to Dec. 8, 1956. He later worked as a Union carpenter for Local 108 in Springfield. Norman married his loving wife, Claudette (Caron) Deshaies, in 1989. He was a communicant of St. Theresa's in South Hadley and enjoyed spending time with his friends from church and his family. Norman also loved playing cards. He will be dearly missed by his wife and their nine children, Norman (Tina) Deshaies, Laura Zawisza, Robert (Diane) Deshaies, Linda (Ken) LaCroix, Elisa Deshaies, Cindy (Leo) Deschenes, Robert (Pamela) Harnois, Larry (Sandy) Harnois and Karen Naroff as well as 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. He also leaves his loving brothers and sisters, Doris Bushey, Jeanne (Norman) Landry, Mary Ann (Gerald) Aubchon, Ronald (Agnes) Deshaies and Paul (Milagro) Deshaies. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Lawrence Deshaies. Norman's family wishes to thank the Holyoke Soldier's Home for the loving care he received. Services are being held at the family's discretion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holyoke Soldier's Home or St. Theresa's Church of South Hadley.
