Obituary of Edward E. Connelly

Edward Ernest Connelly (Eddie) was called home to Heaven on May 3rd 2020 at the age of 83.

He passed away peacefully while cared for by the dedicated staff of Wing Memorial hospital in Palmer, MA.

Eddie was born to Ernest and Josephine Connelly on October 24th 1936 in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Eddie originally lived in Springfield, MA and then became a resident of Ludlow where he and his wife Linda (Watson) Connelly raised their daughter Colleen for over 18 years. He and Linda then moved to Bondsville, MA and had resided there for over 25 years. Eddie was a US Army Veteran/Ranger during the Korean War. Eddie worked for many years at Jahn Foundry and after retirement continued to work for Titan Roofing.

Eddie loved to garden and he loved animals. He and his wife Linda were proud owners of many cats and dogs over the years and owned an White-Faced Amazon Parrot named Randy for 25 years. Eddie loved to play the lottery, and also loved to dance. He enjoyed dancing with his daughter and granddaughter, and even danced with his great granddaughter just after she learned how to walk. He loved music as well. One of his favorite musicians was Nat King Cole and he loved the song Ave Maria by Andrea Bocelli. What made Eddie laugh? The Three Stooges! He would laugh so hard he would cry!

Eddie, his wife Linda, and daughter Colleen, would vacation at Misquamicut beach in Rhode Island almost every year. This was their favorite place which they also enjoyed with the rest of the Connelly clan for many summers of fun!

Eddie was a long time member of The Elks Club in Ludlow, and he loved to spend time at The Saint Mary’s Club in Bondsville, which he was also a member for over 25 years. Here, he had many friends, and he just loved seeing them frequently.

Eddie was predeceased by his parents and his beloved wife Linda (Watson) Connelly. He is survived by his daughter Colleen (Connelly) Gauthier & her partner of 21 years Dave Gabanelli of Warren, MA, his Granddaughter Savanah Gauthier & her partner Alex Ingemi, of Salem, MA, as well as his Great Granddaughter Adelie Ingemi. He also leaves his brother Ralph Connelly, his nieces Patty Connelly, Maureen Fontaine, his nephew Jason Connelly who he loved to call “Beautiful Blue Jay”, his great niece Bonnie Fontaine, great nephews Ryan Connelly & Daniel Connelly, as well as numerous loving extended family members and friends. Eddie was and will forever be loved by many and will never be forgotten.

We plan to have a memorial service celebrating his life after the Covid-19 stay at home advisory is lifted.
