I only knew Bill back in our teen years. He was a strong individual back then. As I recall, his greatest passion back then was for motorcycles. Once he showed me the motorcycles stored in his basement. As I remember, the place was crammed with them. They were packed tightly up against each other, wall to wall. He explained the uniqueness of each one, what was wrong with it and what it would take to get it going again. Always he was enthusiastic about whatever he was talking about.
After high school, our paths never crossed again. Too bad because I'm finding we had a lot in common. It is unfortunate that he left this earth so soon. He has my deepest respect and I wish all the best for the family he left behind.
Kindest regards,
Tom Wolf

Bill was a pleasure, funny and so intelligent to work with over the past 30 years with my relationship with him during my career with the Army Corps of Engineers and Massachusetts Office of Dam Safety. Very Proud to have known him.

From the first time Susan and I met Bill, we knew we had a new friend and a great new neighbor. A smile, an offer to grab us something from the supermarket, even a shot of tequila proffered from the window! All who have met Bill will never forget him.

Bill Fay was - simply put - the best there is; the best there was and the best there will ever be. I've never known a finer man or a smarter dam safety engineer. His generosity with his organic knowledge of hydropower was legendary. He was a wonderment. I'm so very sorry, Will and Celeste, for your irreplaceable loss. Your dad's pride in both of you was likely his greatest pleasure and the two of you were unquestionably his greatest treasure. The world is a far lesser place without Bill Fay and even Heaven, itself, is improved by his presence, there.
He taught me much. He is already missed, beyond words. May the good Lord provide every member of both his immediate and huge, extended family of friends and associates, some measure of peace in the sure and certain knowledge that Bill is already hard at work on the waters of Heaven.
