Obituary of Jean Guy Joseph Yvon Carbonneau

Jean Guy Joseph Yvon Carbonneau, 70, tragically passed away on Thursday, August 6th 2020. Jean was born October 9th, 1949 in St. Raphael, Quebec and moved to Holyoke, MA with his family when he was 5. He attended local schools and graduated from Precious Blood High School in 1968. The following year he joined the Navy working on aircrafts. He loved to share stories about his adventures and travels while enlisted. After leaving the service he resided in Holyoke and worked at various factories as a machinist including East Co. Hand Tool and Hampden Papers. The last 22 years he and his wife Bonnie (Lamb) have lived in Palmer where he spent a majority of his time in his garden or puttering about outside. Jean was a natural mechanic and knew everything about anything with an engine. He could tell you the make, model, year and how many were made for any vehicle. He could simply listen to your running car and tell you what was wrong with it! Jean and Bonnie just celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on August 3rd and had both felt so proud of that milestone. They loved each other deeply and were inseparable, if you saw one of them the other was close behind. Always smiling, he was easy to talk to and had a jovial attitude. Jean was an extremely proud grandpa and always bragged about all of his grandchildren. You better be prepared if he got your ear because he would tell you a story about one or all seven! He had the patience of a saint and could sit forever helping the kids with legos, reading to them, playing video games or playing outside. Jean had a special bond with his eldest grandson, Mateo, who he played a large part in helping raise.

Jean was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Helen and his sister Lucette. He leaves behind his loving wife, Bonnie; his son Jason and his wife Danielle along their children-Zane, Logan, twins, Oliver & August; his daughter Melanie and her husband John along with their children -Mateo, Olivia and Nathan; his son Andrew; his daughter Jill; his brother Yvon along with his children Keith and Brooke; his brother Harry along with his children Kelly and Alicia and their spouses and his brother-in-law James Lamb. Jean loves his family deeply and will be missed greatly by everyone, especially by his cats Elsa and Cosmo.
