Obituary of Joan R. LeSiege

Joan Rena (Fournier) LeSiege, 84, of South Hadley, died on August 26, 2020 following a long illness. Born in Chicopee, Massachusetts on January 17, 1936. Joan graduated from Holy Rosary High School in 1953, she worked for the C.F. Church Company, before marrying her lifelong sweetheart, Bob LeSiege. They married on Thanksgiving Day in 1955. She was a parishioner of Saint Theresa of Lisieux Parish South Hadley. Joan reveled in her role as wife and mother, and was a wonderful cook and homemaker. She was caretaker to all around her, including her treasured cats that she made part of the family. Joan always welcomed visits from family and friends, and magically had a meal, and likely a homemade dessert, at the ready for all who dropped by.  She enjoyed dancing with Bob, and when younger sewed elaborate square dancing outfits. When her children were older, Joan worked as a telephone operator and home care provider. Joan was deeply involved in a South Hadley feral cat project, and cared for many cats throughout the years. Joan is survived by her four children and their spouses David (Dawn) LeSiege, Karen (Peter) Schoenberger, Lori (Don) Hafner, and Glen (Jennica) LeSiege, and her six grandchildren, Todd LeSiege, Eric LeSiege, William Schoenberger, Ava Hafner, Garrett LeSiege, and Hannah LeSiege. She also leaves her brother Paul Fournier. Joan is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert (Bob) LeSiege, parents Ernest and Yolande Fournier and sister Theresa Lesperance. Joan will be missed as a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. The family expresses their appreciation to the wonderful caregivers at Loomis Village assisted living, Holyoke Visiting Nurses and Hospice Life Care, and O’Connell Care at Home. A period of visitation will be held Monday, August 31 from 9-10:30am at Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held in St. Theresa's Church, 9 E Parkview Dr, South Hadley beginning at 11am followed by Rites of Committal and interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman St, South Hadley.
