Obituary of William S. Carrington

Belchertown - William S. Carrington, 88, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2020, at home, surrounded by his family.  He was born on February 10, 1932 in Belchertown, MA to Ernest and Goldie (Chapman) Carrington.  For over 20 years, Bill has lived in Belchertown, after living in East Longmeadow for many years.  He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.  As a Master Plumber, Bill owned his own plumbing business.  He loved to tinker and took much enjoyment in the outdoors, gardening, and watching the birds.  For the past 18 years, Bill spent the winters in Arizona with his longtime partner, Joyce Douglas.  His Master Gardener green thumb meticulously tended to the flowers, veggie crops, and oranges he grew and so enjoyed.  He was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn (Sampson) Carrington and is survived by his daughter, Beverly Carrington and companion Butch of E. Longmeadow and Huntington, MA, along with his four beloved grandchildren, Jess and husband Mike of Westford, VT, Melissa and husband Mike and their children Mercury and Raven of Amherst, MA, Seth and wife Joanna and their son Emmet of Wrentham, MA, and Tyler and wife Nicole and granddog Sadie of Somers, CT.  Bill is also survived by his dear nephew, Chuck Tiernan of Monson, MA, along with several other nieces and nephews.  He was the last surviving child of eight siblings.  Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 16, 2020 from 4:30-6:30 PM at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home.
