Nancy Sbrega

Obituary of Nancy A. Sbrega

It is with great sadness her husband Louis (known as Gino) and friends of Nancy Sbrega of South Hadley accept the passing of this wonderful woman, ill for a brief time, into the heaven she has always believed in.  The family is very grateful to Hospice for their help during Nancy’s last days.   Nancy was the only child of the late Daniel & Ella Horrigan and lived her youth in Holyoke.  Her home and loving and caring for her family were the mainstays of her life.  Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son Jerome Gilbert, son Michael and daughter-in-law Michele. She leaves her brother-in-law, John Sbrega of Arizona and his wife, Marcia, who has been helping Gino care for Nancy for the past several weeks and their family John and Nico Sbrega, Heather (Kurt) Skaza Palmateer and Megan Durell.  She also leaves her sister-in-law, Barbara (Rena) Downey, of Chicopee; her neighborhood friends the Janochas, Tabins & Dalys as well as her dear longtime friend, Barbara Bernard.
A graduate of the class of 1955 of Holyoke High School, Nancy attended Holyoke Community College during which time she began her 20 year career as Financial Manager with D. H. Jones Real Estate in Amherst that she so enjoyed.  Nancy appreciated the services of the Holyoke Senior Center and two special hobbies, embroidery and ceramics with family and friends blessed with much of her very creative work.
