Obituary of Ryszard Richard Szydziak

South Hadley-Ryszard "Richard" Szydziak, 86, passed away February 24, 2021.  Born March 16, 1934 in Ozgowo, Poland, Richard was the son of Michael and Stanislawa (Kopij) Szydziak.  Richard was proud of his Polish heritage and was active in the Polish Community in Holyoke along with being a member of the Polish National Alliance.  He was a longtime member of the former Mater Dolorosa Church and a member of the church choir.  In his youth, Richard enjoyed playing volleyball and soccer.  For many years, Richard worked at Mitlon Bradley as a set up operator.  In 2015, he was predeceased by his wife, Maxine (Kolodynski).  He will be missed by his two sons, Thomas with whom he lived, and Richard of Amherst.  He is also survived by his two granddaughters, Grace and Olivia along with his siblings, Edward of Chicopee, Wildonna of Chicopee, and Jadwiga Morel of Springfield.  Besides his parents and wife, Richard was predeceased by his sister Irena Olender and Genevieve Orlowski.  A funeral service will be held Monday, March 1st at 11:00 a.m. at Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home with visitation from 9:00-11:00 a.m.  Burial to follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery.
