Obituary of Danny R. Champagne

     Belchertown--Danny R. Champagne, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at home on March 30, 2021. Son of the late Robert and Olive (Tebbetts) Champagne, he was born in Newport, VT on March 22, 1948. After graduating Trade High School in 1969, he married the love of his life, Judith D. Champagne on June 20, 1970.

     Danny went on to complete an additional 5 years of plumbing apprenticeship with Local 104. Upon completion he obtained his CT Master Plumber & Pipefitters License, and MA Licenses as a Master Pipefitter & Journeyman Plumber, Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter, and Medical Gas License. With his wealth of knowledge, Danny served the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 104 for 50 years. Danny also became a great asset to the Town of Belchertown, working as the assistant Plumbing Inspector. In his leisure, he enjoyed outdoor activities, such as hunting, boating and fishing. He loved to spend time honing his skills as a master cabinet and furniture maker, as well as traveling whenever possible.

     He enjoyed spending his retirement years cruising around in his sportscars. His greatest accomplishment of all time was raising his family and watching them all grow and give him many grandchildren and a great granddaughter of his own.

     He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him, including his loving wife of over 50 years, Judith D. (Clifford) Champagne; his son, Michael and wife Bridget Champagne of South Hadley; his daughter, Tammy and husband Michael Chalue of Three Rivers; his grandchildren Danny, Jared, and Cheyenne Champagne, Jasmine, Kaylee, and Leianna Racine, and Zachary and Justyne Chalue; and his great granddaughter, Corinne Champagne; his siblings David and wife Cindy Champagne of KY, James Champagne of OH, Steve Champagne and Michael Champagne, both of Springfield; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Thomas Champagne.

     Visitation will be Tuesday, April 6, 2021, from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St. A funeral home service will be held the following morning beginning at 10am with burial to immediately follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker St. Springfield.

     Danny's family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude to the staff of Cooley Dickinson VNA & Hospice who took such wonderful care of him in his final days.
