Obituary of Edna Mae Flora Cox
Edna Mae Flora Cox, 93, of South Hadley, passed peacefully on April 28, 2021. Born in Holyoke on August 20, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Omer and Agnes (Gifford) Sauvageau. She spent her early years working as a book assembler for General Book Bindery in Agawam and a technician at Hano Manufacturing. She also worked as a lunch monitor at Woodlawn Elementary in South Hadley for many years. She married her late husband of 30 years, William "Bill" Cox, on April 19, 1958. Edna was extremely social. As a young woman, Edna was a competitive roller skater and a skilled bowler. She was an avid reader and gardener, and a valued member of the Tri-County Garden Club. Above all, she cherished time spent with her loved ones, and always looked forward to summers spent camping on Cape Cod. Edna will be missed by all who knew her, including her children Paula Moyer (Edward) of Buffalo, NY, Cynthia Fournier (Chuck) of Granby, Bill Cox Jr (Lorraine) of Granby, and Lisa Calkins (Todd) of South Hadley; her grandchildren Scott, Jennifer, Alicia, Lauren, Sarah, Corey, and Joshua; her nieces, Louise Bernier of Chicopee and Marie Freitag of Holyoke; her great grandchildren, Connor and Andrew; as well as extended family members and friends. Edna was predeceased by her husband, parents and sister, Doris. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 3rd from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa's Parish, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to South Hadley Council on Aging or Thomas J O'Connor Animal Adoption Center.
