Obituary of Sonja M Tittel

Sonja M. (Hilbig) Tittel, 83, of Brimfield, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2021, at Baystate Medical Center. She was born on July 22, 1937, in Auerbach, Germany, to Erich and Dora (Brucher) Hilbig. She and her family immigrated to the US in 1957.  The family settled in Springfield temporarily, and following her marriage, lived in Plainville, CT for 25 years.  In 1980, they moved to Brimfield, where she lived the remainder of her life.  Sonja enjoyed life and was always ambitious to travel and see the world, enjoying many trips abroad.  She was an avid bird watcher and gardener; her love of nature was very evident in her home and surroundings.  She was a devoted member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sturbridge, participating in the choir it's many social groups and committees.   She will be deeply missed by her devoted husband of 64 years, Klaus, along with their children Ralph and his wife Patricia of Switzerland, Cornelia Jankowski and her husband George of Charlotte, NC, along with her 4 precious grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.   She also leaves a brother Chris Hilbig of Cape Cod and several nieces and nephews and many good friends.  Besides her parents, Sonja was predeceased by her beloved son Reiner in 1983.  PUBLIC visitation will be Wednesday, May 19th from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N.
