Obituary of Diolinda M. Fish
Springfield--Diolinda M. Fish, 89, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, May 23, 2021. She was born on June 28, 1931 in Ludlow, to the late Francisco and Elvira (Martin) Silva and went on to graduate from Commerce High School in Springfield.
She loved living in Belchertown and worked hard on the family farm where she cared for a large garden, canned vegetables and help care for the many animals they had. Diolinda was very active in St. Francis of Assisi Church teaching CCD at both the church and at the Belchertown State School.
She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years and worked at the local egg farm near the old Belchertown High School. While living in Springfield she enjoyed the Golden Age Club and made many friends.
Diolinda will be missed by all who knew her including her loving children Art Fish Jr and his wife, Debbie of Belchertown, Alan Fish and his wife, Jane of Billerica, and Christine Koon and her husband, Tim of Springfield; her 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson; as well as many extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Arthur R. Fish in 2004; her siblings Frank, Jack, Nel and Mindo; as well as one grandchild.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 27 from 4-7PM at Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St. Friends and family are asked to meet at the funeral home the following morning at 10am for a funeral procession to St. Francis of Assisi for a Liturgy of Christian Burial beginning at 11am. Rites of Committal to follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made the Alzheimer's Association, https://act.alz.org/ or The American Heart Association, https://www.heart.org/.
