Obituary of Henry D. Funk

South Hadley - Henry D. Funk, 72, beloved husband of Gail (Sullivan) Funk for 52 years, passed away on their wedding anniversary, June 28, 2021 surrounded by family. Born in Holyoke, March 18, 1949, he was the son of August L. Funk and Thelma M. (Girard) Ferreira. Henry was raised in Holyoke, graduated from Holyoke Trade School, and attended STCC. Before enjoying his retirement, he worked as an steam engineer at Westfield State College. In his leisure, he could be found tinkering in the garage, working on his computers, or cooking up a favorite meal in the kitchen. Whether it was tools, or the computer, Henry enjoyed to work with his hands. Above everything else, Henry loved spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his wife Gail, Henry is survived by three children, Michael Funk and wife Charlotte of Hatfield, Kevin Funk, and Becky Laliberte and husband Martin, all of Granby, as well as five grandchildren, Steven, Benjamin, Ella, Griffin, and Brodie. He also leaves Crystal and Donald Demers, Donna Dupuis, Michael and Kathy LaMontagne, Dennis and Linda Funk, Cheryl Funk and Bill, Linda Robare, and Darleen and Rick Burns, predeceased by Sue Booth, Kenneth and Keith Funk. Additionally, he leaves his in-laws, Maureen Kennedy, Joanne and Jimmy Adams, Elaine Regnier, pre-deceased by Morgan Kennedy, William Sullivan, Peggy and John Slowik. Furthermore, he leaves many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held Saturday, July 10th from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home with a service to begin at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, tune-up your car and check the air pressure in your tires - he would have wanted that.
