Dennis Hebert

Obituary of Dennis Michael Hebert

South Hadley—Dennis Michael Hebert, 73, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, May 12, 2022 after a courageous battle with ALS. Born on October 17, 1948 in Montpelier, VT, he was the son of the late Joseph and Janet (Earle) Hebert. Dennis moved to Agawam at the age of 5 where he grew up and graduated from Agawam High School. Following his graduation, he joined the United States’ Air Force and proudly served his country until 1971, when he was honorably discharged as a Vietnam Veteran.

After his service, Dennis went on to obtain his Bachelor of Science Degree in Plant Soil Sciences from UMASS Amherst. He worked for over 40 years in the Field of Horticulture, first as a teacher, then as an independent sales representative for several horticultural companies.

Dennis enjoyed fishing and visiting the beach in Jupiter, FL, but his passion was working outdoors in the yard, whether it was creating beautiful beds for plants and trees or simply gardening. He could always be found outside at his home or his daughters’ homes doing what he loved to do the most.

Dennis was always eager to help his family, whether it was fixing something or simply helping with projects.

Above all, family was most important to Dennis and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him, including his loving wife of 54 years, Keitha (Ball) Hebert; his two daughters Jennifer Thomas and her husband Craig, and Alicia Doherty and her husband Craig; his 3 grandchildren Evan Thomas and his wife Amanda, Sean Doherty, Thomas Doherty; his 2 great-grandchildren Camden and Beckham Thomas; his sisters, Diane Reynolds and husband Will, Laurie Dagesse and husband Tony; his brothers Steve Hebert and wife Laura, Joseph Hebert and his wife Joanne, and Gregory Hebert; many nieces and nephews; as well as many more extended family members and friends.
