Obituary of Dennis William Koob

Belchertown - Dennis W. Koob, Sr., 76, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, May 28, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 8, 1946 in Utica, NY to William and Mary (Clark) Koob. Dennis was raised in Utica and lived a number of years in Agawam, MA before finally settling in Belchertown in 1980. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He retired in 2000 from Verizon where he had worked as a toll technician for 32 years. Dennis was a devoted communicant of St. Francis Church and volunteered countless hours during Perpetual Adoration. In his leisure he could be found tending to his vegetable gardens, swimming, or fishing the beautiful Quabbin Reservoir. Some of his fondest times were spent with his family, vacationing every summer at Drakes Island in Maine for the past 40 years. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 49 years, Judith (Lattrell) Koob of Belchertown, his three children, Kristine Koob and her partner Andrea of Salisbury, MA, Dennis Koob, Jr. and his wife Sarah of Littleton, MA and Kyle Koob and his wife Jesse of Monson. He also leaves five precious grandchildren, Connor, Hayden, Ella, Ethan and Oden. A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, June 7 from 10-11 AM at St. Francis Church, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM. Private burial with military honors will follow at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
