Obituary of Donald Francis Suchenicz

Granby- Donald Francis Suchenicz, 80, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2022 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Born February 14, 1942 in South Holyoke, he was the son of Stanley and Albina (Mochon) Suchenicz. Donald grew up in South Holyoke and has lived in Granby for over 50 years. He proudly served his country in the US Marines during Vietnam. He worked in communications and was honorably discharged as Corporal. During his service, he was awarded the combat action ribbon and should have received the Purple Heart for being wounded in combat. Donald was friendly to everyone he met and if you had the pleasure of meeting him, you were his friend. He enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to his yard and remodeling his home. In his leisure, he also enjoyed time spent at the casino, most especially slot machines. Donald's memory will forever remain with his best friend of 40 years, wife of 28 years, Patricia (Saroce) Suchenicz, along with son, Donald of Chicopee and three daughters, Carolyn Suchenicz of Stafford, CT, Donna F. Suchenicz and Steve Majerowski of Chicopee, and Michelle and Bryan Hauschild, II of Belchertown along with four granddaughters, Samantha Jaremczuk and Melissa Wurm both of Monson, and Brianna and Paige Hauschild both of Belchertown. Donald also leaves four great grandsons, one great granddaughter and was one of seven children, Thomas Suchenicz of Granby, Joan Sadakierski of South Hadley, Michael Suchenicz and Arlene Gaudet of Belchertown as well as sister-in-laws, Rebecca Fettes, Joan and Patty Suchenicz, many nieces, nephews and longtime friends. Besides his parents, Donald was predeceased by his siblings, Alice Chapin, Stanley and Dennis Suchenicz and his four legged "fur babies". Visitation will be held Friday, July 29th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. Military honors and committal will take place at a later date for the family at the MA Veterans' Memorial Cemetery.
